The Museum Society in Strážnice was established in the 1930s. Its goal was to preserve the traditions and important monuments in Strážnice and its environs.
During the 20th century was the museum several times closed and then restored again. In present form it was opened in 1995. Main purpose of the museum is to collect, protect and display the items with relation to the town Strážnice and its surroundings. Nowadays the museum collection consists of more than 10.000 items. The museum offers several permanent exhibitions as well as short-term exhibitions dedicated to different topics related to Strážnice.
