The museum in Tvarožná Lhota is dedicated to an unique tree named Jeřáb oskeruše (service tree - Sorbus domestica).
The service tree is listed as an endangered species in several countries in Europe. Its fruit is known for its healing effects and it was used already in the Ancient Rome. It is a long-lived tree – some specimens are estimated to be 300-400 year old. Despite its long life-span today the tree can be only rarely found.
The largest and perhaps oldest known specimen in Europe is near the town of Strážnice in Tvarožná Lhota. The museum in Tvarožná Lhota is trying to restore the natural population of this tree and return it to our fields and vineyards. The fruit is used for production of tea, jam, juice or hard liquor.
In the vicinity of the museum is a Nature Trail “Oskerušová stezka”. Along the trail you can find many service trees including the largest and oldest service tree - “Adamcova oskoruša”, which is estimated to be 500 year old (it is also the largest fruit tree in Czech Republic). In spring you can also visit festivities in Tvarožná Lhota, which are dedicated to service tree and its fruit.
The rural house (no. 230) is the last proof of the old buildings area. Nowadays it accommodates a small exhibition of rural life and production of curd cheese. It is accessible on call.
